The European Commission has issued an updated list of active ingredients that are still going through the EU review of existing biocides, which includes non-crop pesticides. The update applies to a list dating from 2014. It removes ais that did not receive any notifications from companies willing to support them through the review.
A list of these unsupported ais was issued late last year. The latest update also removes any ais that have completed the review process and received a decision on approval or non-approval.
The updated list contains 24 insecticides/acaricides, seven repellents/attractants and two wood preservatives. There are no molluscicides or rodenticides left in the list. Anticoagulant rodenticides were reviewed as a group and triggered hazard criteria, but the Commission is considering the European Chemical Agency’s conclusion that alternative control methods are limited.

The biocide review is scheduled to be completed by the end of 2024.
